SONGS TO REMOVE AWKWARD CAR SILENCE.

It's no secret that I like music & if it is, then you really don't read anything I write. It also isn't a secret that a TON of people play music in their cars, whether that music is coming from a radio station, their phone, or a CD. People also play music in their cars when they have other people in their car with them. Over the years, I have noticed that a lot of times, people play "neutral" music in the car when they have guests in it. They play music that they compromise on (music that they like & their guests like as well) or music that they know the other person likes, yet the driver just tolerates it.

Have you ever wanted to have a song come on in your car that you know would bring up conversation? You know, one that would break that awkward silence if it's occurring, would let you & your car guest(s) scream-sing the lyrics, or even one that could stop the guest in your car from singing super off key, if only for 30 seconds? Well, if that's the case for you, then read below! Some of this music should for sure strike up some sort of conversation between you & your beloved, off-key singing car guests. Other songs on this list could let EVERYONE in your car sing off-key. You're welcome.

1. "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None The Richer

Okay, so this song is basically used in every movie ever that is set in Paris. It's a fact. Here's how the conversation will go, I can guarantee you:

*"Kiss Me" comes on*

Your Guest: "Oh my gosh, this song is in-"

You: "Every Paris-based movie ever?" Your Guest: "Yeah! But the song is so good!"

You: "I know." ;)

2. The Newest Taylor Swift Song

Either you love it, or you hate to love it. No matter how much you try to not like it, it still gets stuck in your head almost immediately after you first hear it.

3. "Burnin' Up" by the Jonas Brothers

This is one of the best throwbacks ever. Bonus points to if you can get Big Rob's rap down. (For real though, Big Rob was the real MVP of 2008).

4. "Hello" by Adele

Everyone knows the lyrics to this song, even if it's just half of the chorus. Go ahead. Let your guests sing off-key for this one song. Chances are, you probably had a voice crack trying to belt out at least one part of this song before, so you didn't do Adele justice, either.

5. "A Thousand Miles" by Vanessa Carlton

You know this song just by hearing those first few notes getting played. Fortunately, your car guests do, too. Keep the song on. Don't skip it. Just jam to it, even if you only know a few lines of the song.

6. "Need You Now" by Lady Antebellum

Even if your very loving car guests claim that they HATE country music, they know this song. They may not want to admit it, but they know it- harmonies, instrumental solos, the whole nine yards.

7. "Party In The U.S.A." by Miley Cyrus

This comes on & your car instantly becomes the coolest one on the road for people between the ages of 16-25. You know it, you love it, you just have to scream sing it.

8. "Since U Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson

Channel your inner rockstar. If you need to loosen up the atmosphere in your car (because there's obviously tension. Apparently by now, you have found out that Becky told Rachel something that Annie told Becky not to tell anyone. The car ride has been incredibly awkward for the past six minutes & you need help ASAP), Kelly's got your back. Put this song on & everyone will forget the feud for a moment because they'll be too involved in performing to notice.

9. "This Love" by Maroon 5

One person will know the song. Then another one will. Then before you know it, everyone in your car remembers all the lyrics to this song...& it's great. Between Kelly & Adam Levine's singing, Annie has forgotten all about how much she hates Becky!

10. "We're All In This Together" from High School Musical

YES! Everyone is friends with each other again & you have made it to your destination without too much uncomfortable silence! Leave it to the HSM cast to make everything okay again.

So the you have it, ladies & gents! There are 10 possible songs to break the awkward silence that could have been life threatening had it gone on the entire car ride. Now enjoy the time you have with your car guests... OUTSIDE of the car!*

*Please note that while I was giving actual music suggestions for awkward car rides, I am being sarcastic in this entire post: scenarios, exaggerations, everything.
